“Hope Is The Voice Of The Heart”
If we listen to the news, contention and animosity between people fill the airwaves. I can’t help believe that this mindset leads to violence. It’s times like the one right now which I would really like to see news reporting only GOOD stuff. And there’s plenty of good going on! Let’s put the world situation in perspective– there is much GOOD is going on to ever become discouraged and lose hope. That’s why I love hearing children laugh! And babies cry! These are the sounds of GOOD and the promise of a new tomorrow. Do not silence the voice of the heart… keep hope in the voice of your heart… believe…
Why do we let ourselves be persuaded that world affairs suck? Look at the facts, not the emotionality. OK- here are some facts:
1. The world has always been in strife: governments have conflicting interests;
2. But people, however, share much in common: the desire to live and worship in peace; to educate their children for a better future; and to live long and prosper (to quote renowned historian, Dr. Spock, from Star Trek– he travelled to many worlds, not just ours.)
Let’s keep perspective: facts are facts, but animosity springs from ‘spinning’ the facts. And mortals have been spinning stories since the beginning of time. It started when, one night, Mastodons attacked a cave– and that one caveman ranted and raved to rouse help from neighboring cavemen. Plain and simple. Newspapers do today– to rouse anger so readers support politically slanted stories.
There is a great division between the people of the United States– or so the news would like us to believe. Truth be told, politics make strange bedfellows, meaning, political alliances are temporary, based on gathering Mastodons. But apart from the temporality of politics, humanity is forever. It is time for the news media to stop dividing our people.
America was built on diversity. It was neither easy nor equal, but after almost 250 years of birthing pains, the nation is more diverse and equitable than ever. And despite all our shortcomings, more people emigrate to our shores each year than all other countries combined. Why? For freedom. Freedom is written in our laws, the basis of our government and economic systems. Everybody’s got a shot at freedom in America. It’s what we do with it that defines who we are. Freedom is the hope in the heart of all immigrants who come here to escape repression. They hope for a better future for themselves and their children.
That’s why the media should be focused on the Truth about America. Don’t spin the story to sell papers or rouse anger between our sisters and brothers– but tell the story about the American struggle for freedom. It is ongoing, evolving our political, legal and monetary systems. But everyone can weigh in– that’s the cost of freedom. That’s the greatness of America, the heart and soul of this country. This American ideology. The American way of life. It far outweighs the monetary wealth of this nation, the evolution of freedom. It’s what binds the people of America– it’s our history and our future. And all brothers and sisters must be a part of it. Participate in your government! Let your voice be heard!
Readers, think twice before giving into the anger and division of our diversity as the media would have us believe… think first upon what binds us in common ground. Children laughing and babies crying… in freedom. Do not silence us. Thank God for America. Keep hope in your heart– and write your political leaders to work together for world peace.
